ACADEMICS & SPECIALS
St. Charles School was founded in 1884 by the Sisters of Notre Dame. St. Charles School offers students an exciting, faith-based core curriculum from Pre-K to Grade 8, with rigorous course of study designed to further academic achievement. Using research-based best practices, teachers engage students in units of study that not only build a solid foundation of literacy and numeracy skills, but also encourages students to develop critical and creative thinking and sharpen their problem solving abilities.

FACILITIES
The school has two buildings. Our lower building houses grades Pre-K through grade 4, our administrative office, our nurse’s office, our school library and the lower school science lab. The upper building houses grades 5-8, the cafeteria, computer lab, the art room, learning, gymnasium/auditorium (renovated in summer 2018!), science lab, and music room. The students have access to the parish church for activities centered around the sacraments.

TESTING
Students at St. Charles School take the MAP Assessment (Measures of Academic Progress) three times per year. This is a growth assessment, not a standardized test. For more information about the MAP Test, visit www.nwea.org.

During the 2017-2018 School Year, St. Charles School was recognized for above average achievement in all three testing areas — reading, math and language usage.

SCHOOL HOURS
Preschool 8:30-11:30AM or 8:30AM-2:20PM
Kindergarten 8:30AM – 2:20PM
Grades 1-8 8:30AM – 2:30PM

For Kindergarten admission, students must be five years old by September 1 of the year entering school. Students entering first grade must be six years old by September 1 of the year entering school. Priority is given to current school families. Admission to all other grades is based on available space, the Brigance Inventory test, a review by the Principal of academic records, and a letter of recommendation from the student’s current teacher. St. Charles School does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, religion, national or ethnic origin.

BUS SERVICE
Students living in Woburn, living more than two miles from the school are provided transportation by
North Suburban Bus Transportation.
