Weekly Update September 17, 2021 Weekly Update September 17, 2021 Dear St. Charles Families, Thank you to all those who participated in Curriculum Night last evening. The teachers enjoyed sharing their classroom and subject information with you. Grade 3 did not want Mrs. Hayes to be alone last night so they created self-portraits to keep her company. I thought you would like to see photos of our new library. A special thanks to Mrs. Abbey Carbone and Mrs. Rosalind O’Sullivan for all of their hard work. They spent weeks of time cleaning, organizing and decorating our new space. We are postponing the Ice Cream Social that was scheduled for September 23. Given that many families attended the Summer Social last month, we will try for a spring event. Friday, September 24, is a TAG Day and proceeds will go to St. Vincent dePaul of Woburn. The suggested donation is $1.00. Students who participate in the Tag Day do not need to wear a uniform next Friday. Here is the non-uniform day dress code: Depending on the occasion, students may be allowed to wear casual or dress-up clothing. On these occasions, the dress code is relaxed, but inappropriate attire will not be accepted. For example: midriffs, offensive or insulting T-shirts, pajama bottoms, low hung pants, low cut tops, shorts/dresses/skirts that are too short, clothes that are too tight. Leggings may only be worn with a longer shirt or under a dress. Shorts may NOT be worn when the warm weather uniform is not permitted. No underwear may show. On Sunday, September 26, Grade 5 will be hosting the 10 am Sunday Mass in the Upper Church. All school families are welcome and encouraged to attend. Parents, please send an email to Mrs. Looby or call the school office at 781-935-4635 if your student is coming to school late, or if you are dismissing your student. We appreciate the phone calls for dismissals in advance. Once you arrive to pick up your student, please call the office and Mrs. Looby will be sure your student walks to your vehicle safely. Please park along Myrtle Street for late arrivals or dismissals. The Student/Parent Handbook was emailed to each family of students in Grades K-8 on Monday. Students were given a sheet to bring home and sign. Please fill out the sign-off sheet with your student(s) and send it back to school with your student. Please remember to sign the back of the form as well!. The St. Charles School Gala will be on Friday, October 29, at the Stoneham/Woburn Elks, which was renovated recently. Tickets are $40 per adult. (This is not a student event.) We are in need of items for our Gala auction. Please feel free to email me about auction items. You may purchase tickets or sign up to be a sponsor here. We could use parent help during morning drop-off and at recess time. If you can help monitor morning or afternoon recess, please email me the day and time you are available. I will reply to you with the required paperwork. St. Vincent de Paul of Woburn is hosting a clothing drive on October 9 and 10. Please see the attached flyer for details. Please encourage your students to donate and learn first-hand about how to help others in our community. If your child has a fever, please do not send them to school. Also, if your child has any of the following symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, a new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or a runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, please keep your child home. If your child has been exposed to COVID-19, please contact our school nurse immediately. Have a restful weekend. Mrs. Donna Cargill Principal
