COVID-19 Update March 19, 2021

Dear St. Charles Families,

Attached to this email is updated COVID protocol information from our Parish. The new protocols are less restrictive. Please remember that, as a school, we have not changed any of our practices. Many of our school expectations are listed at the end of this email.

Trimester II Report Cards were emailed home this afternoon. If you have a question about a grade or comment, please contact the teacher via email on Monday.

The Lower School will attend Mass in the Church on Friday, March 26.

Our students are praying the Stations of the Cross in their classroom each Friday morning during Lent. We have set aside times when students may pray the Stations in the lower church as one or two classes at a time to observe social distancing.

Here are the remaining visits:

Kindergarten (Church Visit) March 29 at 8:45am

Grade 1 (Church Visit) March 30 at 8:45am

Grade 5/6 March 19 at 8:45am

Grade 7/8 March 24 at 1:01pm

Please remember that students are supposed to wear uniform items specified in our handbook. Some of our Upper School students need to be reminded to wear SCS shirts and sweatshirts.

Sometimes our gymnasium doubles as a great place for safe group work!

The Student Council has planned some fun March Madness events for the week of March 22-26. Please see the information I sent in a separate email on Wednesday, March 17.

Our Lenten Paper Drive runs through Monday, March 29. We will be collecting paper goods for St. Vincent de Paul of Woburn and have assigned items by grade:

PK, K, 1 and 2- a package of four (4) rolls of toilet paper

Gr. 3 and 4- a box of tissues

Gr. 5 and 6- a package of table napkins

Gr. 7 and 8- two (2) rolls of paper towels

Please continue to be proactive about communicating illness information with staff at the school. You are helping us to maintain accurate records and keep others healthy. I cannot stress enough the importance of following the recommended protocols. If your student is exposed to someone who may have COVID or someone who has tested positively for COVID, please do not send your student to school and notify the school office immediately. Please do not send your child to school if he/she does not feel well, and please notify the school office of your child’s illness. Please inform us immediately if your student or anyone in your household tests positive. If someone becomes ill during the weekend, please email me so I may have information in advance. We are relying on cooperation from each of you to help everyone to remain healthy and we thank families for being cautious in an effort to keep everyone well.

Monitoring your child’s health: Please take your child’s temperature each morning before leaving home for school. If your child has a fever, please do not send them to school. Also, if your child has any of the following symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, a new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or a runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, please keep your child home and notify the school office.  If your child has been exposed to COVID-19, please contact our school office immediately. By sending your child to school, you are agreeing that you have completed the home screening on a daily basis.

Have a safe and happy weekend!

Mrs. Donna Cargill
